A Night at the Opera
Our season opens in Penrith for a gala concert of operatic highlights. Three soloists take us through the best bits of opera, in an event that will be repeated at the Sedbergh Festival the following evening.
July 9th & 10th 2022
Weekend of Outdoor Opera
Lowther Castle & Gardens will play host to a weekend of Shakespeare, Arthur Ransome, and Jazz-inspired Opera as the Cumbria Opera Group present a triptych of family-friendly productions. Swallows and Armenians - Karen Babayan's reimagining of Ransom's ever-popular story - receives a musical twist, while a one-person performance of Ariel - Shakespeare's most musical character - invades the Castle for two nights only. The debut performance of the Cumbria Opera Group Big Band provides the finale.
The Consort of the Cumbria Opera Group return for a performance of Handel's most beloved oratorio.
Bach's St John Passion
Brought to life in a new, provocative staging, this performance of Bach's passiontide masterpiece promises to be a thought-provoking experience.
